17 degrees
163 flights of stairs!
We left our hotel this morning prepared for rain...it didn't rain and it didn't take long for us to have to lose a layer of clothing
Our walk is mostly rural today...and quiet
Waterfalls
And beauty
Today we have our largest elevation climb - 405 meters, which apparently equates to 163 flights of stairs!
I am so thankful it didn't rain...the only thing I dislike more than climbing is climbing in the rain!
Our summit
And some of the view back looking over the Lima Valley
405 meters is a pretty good climb, we are thankful that our muscles have gotten accustomed to the daily abuse we've been putting them through!
We saw much of this
And
Collection bags for what..we couldn't imagine. It turns out the pine sap is being collected to make paint and pine resin products. Turpentine is distilled from pine resin. At one time Portugal accounted for the greater part of world trade in gum turpentine. Portugals decline in production has been brought about by rising labour costs and unwillingness of people to undertake th arduous task of tapping pine trees. How interesting!
We both feel amazing
