17 degrees - but it felt much warmer!

We met girls from Italy and have coffee with a couple from Ireland who are biking their way to Santiago

We intended to make the 35 km day much shorter, break it into two days actually. Well it didn't work out. We started checking for accommodation at 1:00 and didn't find anything until three. It was worth the wait. We are at
Hans from the Netherlands is our host. We have a great visit with him, he came to Portugal 10 years ago to restore an ancient home for a guest house. When the house was done, his wife left him. He said the restoration was his dream not her..he has now fallen in love with a girl from Russia. He walked us through his yard and garden

Pomegranates...he picks a couple for us to eat. He also picked figs for tonight's salad. I have never seen a pomegranate tree before! Hans is cooking supper for us tonight, there is a young German girl here also, and he will cook breakfast for us tomorrow . Sid and I are in an apartment suite which is beautiful....right out of international house hunters!
Today I emailed the Canadian Consulate with a contact I had made for Santiago . The Canadian Consulate regretted to inform me that my passport could not be shipped out of Portugal. Very helpful, especially since my helper girl approved Spain ! I'm sure this too will work out!
