Alverca - Azambuja 33.75 km. October 3

Ardi 47342 steps
Sid 39110 steps
The temperature reached 25 degrees.  When we were by water we had a nice breeze, otherwise not so much.  Much of our walk today was urban and nearly all of it was on a hard surface
Our way markers:
The blue arrows are way markers for Fatima, where  the vision of the Virgin Mary appeared to 3 young children in 1917.  We are following the yellow ones....for the first three days the route is the same.
Still by the Rio Tego

The path...well used by many it seems
We passed by the Plaza de Toros where there was a lot of activity , and notice the old grave yard in the background!
Many times these trucks passed us loaded with tomatoes.  At this spot they were lined up at what we guessed to be the processing plant.  We had no tomatoe harvest siting today

Many times while walking in Spain we noticed the stork nests but never saw a real live stork. Today we did...amazing

We get to the end of our walk for today and find accommodation ....hostess speaks no English .  Our room is clean and comfortable

It is amazing how rest restores the body.  At the moment we need both rest and restoration, tommorrows walk is more rural.  However I see the first 9 days are all 30 km plus!
We did not meet one other walker today, the locals are most kind to us and we are grateful

  1. Good going you two. Those are long days and hard surfaces are always tough on the feet. I love the storks too. Hopefully you'll see plenty more and on things less industrial.
